Privacy Policy

StudyInk is a browser extension for annotating webpages and creating optional AI study notes.

Information handled by StudyInk

StudyInk stores annotations, sticky-note text, tool preferences, and the URL of each annotated webpage in your local browser profile. It also stores an OpenAI API key only if you choose to enter one in AI settings.

Optional AI study notes

When you explicitly choose Generate study notes, StudyInk sends the selected page text, annotations, labels, and sticky-note text directly to OpenAI using the API key you supplied. StudyInk does not send this information to a StudyInk-operated server.

How information is used

Information is used only to provide annotations, PDF export, activity review, and the AI study-notes feature you request. StudyInk does not sell user data, use it for advertising, or use it to determine creditworthiness or eligibility for lending.

Data retention and deletion

StudyInk data remains in your browser until you clear annotations for a page, remove stored extension data, or uninstall the extension. You can remove your saved OpenAI API key through the extension’s AI settings by replacing or clearing local extension data.

Third parties

OpenAI receives content only when you choose to generate study notes. OpenAI’s processing of that content is governed by its own policies and terms.
